Canon RF 24mm F1.4L VCM & RF 50mm F1.4L VCM Released

In June, Canon released the hybrid lens RF 35mm F1.4L VCM - now two more are coming: Canon RF 50mm F1.4L VCM and RF 24mm F1.4L VCM. The hybrid optics mean that they are suited for both still photography and the demands filmmakers have on lens functionality.

The two new lenses have exactly the same design and size as the 35mm lens, to simplify handling and minimize the need for adjustments such as gimbal or similar when changing lenses.

The RF 24mm F1.4L VCM is about 20 percent lighter than its EF predecessor, and there is a 55 gram difference between it and the new 50mm lens.

Both lenses are equipped with a nano ultrasonic motor and Voice Coil motor for fast and silent autofocus. The lenses are weather-sealed and have a fluorine coating on the outer surface of the lens to prevent dirt from sticking.

The lenses also feature an aperture ring and a customizable function button. To suit both still photography and video, focus breathing has been minimized, which is important for video recording.
