Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM Z - New Telezoom for the Hybrid Series

Canon expands its "RF Hybrid Line" with a new power zoom lens for both still and video creators.

Today, Canon releases both the new Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM Z, as well as RF 50mm F1.4L VCM and RF 24mm F1.4L VCM - all three lenses for its hybrid series suitable for both video and still photography.

The lens Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM Z is designated with "Z" as an addition because it is a power zoom, thus capable of using a power zoom adapter for servo-driven zoom handling, with PZ-E2 or PZ-E2B, where the latter supports the 20-pin interface. Both lenses feature a USB C connection. Through the adapters, remote functions can be used, via IP, Canon's XC protocol, and Camera Connect/EOS Utility.

The lens has the same size as Canon RF 24-105/2.8 L IS USM Z for easy handling, and is released in both white or black color versions. The adaptation for video means that the lens has minimal angle of view change during refocusing (known as focus breathing), and built-in optical image stabilization with compensation for 5.5 stops, or up to 7.5 stops (center) and 7.0 stops (edges) with an EOS R1 camera with built-in image stabilization in the camera body.

The dedicated aperture ring is stepless with 32 points for aperture setting. The aperture has 11 circular blades for smooth background blur. The zoom rotation is 70 degrees. The lens is composed of two Super UD glasses, one UD glass, three aspherical lenses, and has ASC and Super Spectra coatings. The filter diameter is 82mm.

The minimum focusing distance is 0.49m at 70mm and 0.68m at 200mm. The lens is also compatible with a 1.4x teleconverter, providing a field of view equivalent to 280mm or 400mm with a 2x teleconverter. The lens weighs 1,115 grams (white) and 1,110 grams (black), and has dimensions of 88.5 x 199 mm.
