Nikon is now releasing a second version of its DX/APS-C camera Nikon Z50 - Nikon Z50 II. The updates are numerous, including a new dedicated button for "Picture Control", which allows quick access to preset image settings. The sensor has a resolution of 20.9 megapixels.

The Nikon Z50 II is slightly larger than its predecessor Z50 and is intended for use by vloggers, among others. The camera features a product review mode where it focuses on an item or product held in front of the camera, then switches back to the person in the frame showing the product.

The camera also simplifies live streaming, including support for UVC and UAC via USB, for platforms like Twitch, YouTube Live, or meeting software like Zoom, and supports Nikon Imaging Cloud. The camera can also be controlled via a remote control connected to the headphone jack with a cable. The Z50 is also the first Z camera to include a self-timer with a delay before filming starts.

The autofocus is expected to be equivalent to the flagship Nikon Z9 and is also equipped with the Expeed 7 image processor. This means that the camera can recognize nine different subjects. The camera has also been given 3D tracking, just as we saw with the new Nikon Z6 III. Nikon has also carried out an optimization of image handling to give the JPEG images cleaner and finer image quality at high ISO levels.

The viewfinder in the Z50 II has become brighter, with 1000 cd/m2, the resolution is 2.36M. The burst shooting speed has been increased with a High-Speed Frame Capture+ mode with up to 30 frames per second, and Pre-Release Capture. With the AF-A mode, the camera also helps to adjust the settings for the photographer, such as switching from AF-S to AF-C mode. The camera also has a built-in flash.

Even the video specifications have been improved compared to the Z50, including 4K/30p oversampled from 5.6K. 4K/60p is available with cropping and full-HD is recorded at up to 120 frames per second. The camera also supports H.265 in 8/10 bits, N-Log, HLG, and the Hi-Res Zoom feature which allows for 2x zoom when recording in full-HD. Video can be recorded for up to 120 minutes.

The Nikon Z50 II has a recommended price of 11,990 kronor including VAT. The Nikon Z50 II in a kit with 16-50 DX is priced at 13,790 kronor including VAT. The Nikon Z50 II with 16-50 DX + 50-250 DX is priced at 16,790 kronor including VAT. The camera will be available at the end of November 2024.
