Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD now for Nikon Z

The ultra-telephoto zoom from 2022 is now coming to Nikon's Z-system, with the same design and construction.

In 2022, Tamron released its ultra-telephoto zoom lens Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD in full frame for Sony E, and it was then one of the lenses included in a new category of high-performance lenses for mirrorless cameras.

The lens is now also released for the Nikon Z mount. The optical construction consists of 24 elements in 18 groups, where two lens elements are of XLD type, three of LD type, and two aspherical lenses. This has enabled a compact construction with a weight of 1180 grams, just 25 grams more than the Sony version.

The lens also features image stabilization, fluorine coating on the front lens, and is weather-sealed. The focus motor of the lens is the linear VXD type, hence the name of the lens. The lens can also be updated via USB. Macro photography is also possible with a minimum focusing distance of 0.25 m and a reproduction scale of 1:2 at the widest focal length of 50 mm.
