Canon EOS C80 is the new addition to Canon's cinema series, with video-oriented products. The camera replaces its predecessor Canon EOS C70, the first EOS C-camera with an RF mount.

Canon EOS C80 features a backlit full-frame sensor of 19 megapixels and the ability to shoot up to 6K, thus having the same sensor as Canon EOS C400. The sensor also includes triple-base-ISO technology at 800, 3200, and 12800 ISO which enhances the dynamic range, where the EOS C80 has a specified dynamic range of 16 EV steps.

The EOS C80 also adds several new film formats and supports services such as Frame.IO, internal recording of 6K/30p in raw format, 4K oversampled from 6K in 10-bit 4:2:2 format. C80 also has expanded support for VR and live productions.

The Cinema RAW Light format supports 12-bit up to 6K/30p and supports MP4, XF-AVC S/HEVC S.

New to this version is the ability for SDI output and that it can be used simultaneously with the HDMI output. There is also support for time coding via BNC, wifi, multifunction shoe, ethernet socket, and sockets for microphone and headphones.

The autofocus dual pixel CMOS AF II with AF tracking EOS iTR AF X covers the entire sensor and is improved to recognize people, such as eyes, faces, heads, but also animals.

The camera has dual card slots of SD UHS-II type, where Canon themselves suggest specifications up to V90 for recording high-resolution video. Canon EOS C80 can be used with all RF lenses, EF lenses with an adapter, and PL lenses with an adapter. The weight is 1,300 grams.

The Canon EOS C80 will be available from November 2024. The recommended price is 74,399 kronor including VAT.
