Leica is now complementing the SL system's Trinity series with the new telezoom Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200 f/2.8 ASPH, as well as a new teleconverter, Leica Extender L 2.0x.
The Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 70-200 f/2.8 ASPH becomes the third lens with zoom and aperture 2.8 for the series along with Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL 14-24 f/2.8 ASPH and Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70 f/2.8 ASPH, thus covering 14-200mm in full frame at aperture f/2.8.

The lens is constructed of 20 lens elements in 15 groups, including three lenses with aspherical surfaces, which should provide detailed images out to the edges at all focal lengths. The lens also has Aqua-dura coating, removable tripod mount, and E82 filter thread.
The close focus limit is 0.65 m at 70 mm and 100 m at 200 mm. The lens weighs 1540 grams with the lens hood and is 207 x 89 mm without the lens hood.
The Leica Extender L 2.0x weighs 220 grams and measures 47 x 67 mm.
