Smallrig Cooling Fan Released for Canon EOS R5 & R5 Mark II

For those who film intensively with their Canon camera model R5, Smallrig is now releasing a cooling fan that can be set in two modes.

To maintain the compact size of the now almost five-year-old Canon EOS R5, Canon chose not to install a cooling fan. However, sometimes a fan is needed to prevent the temperature from getting too high, for example during intensive recording with a high frame rate and when the entire sensor is used.

Now Smallrig is releasing a cooling fan suitable for both the Canon EOS R5 and EOS R5 Mark II, as a click-in fan that operates at 7000 revolutions per minute at the highest setting with a power of 5-18 watts. At the lowest speed, it sounds less than 40 dB and in high-speed mode less than 50 dB.

The fan should also be compatible with Sony ZV-E1 / ZV-E10 II / ZV-E10 / ZV-1 / ZV-1F / Alpha 7 IV / Alpha 7S III / Alpha 7C / Alpha 7C II / Alpha 7CR / Alpha 6700 / FX3 / FX30 if the mounting bracket is removed.

The recommended price for the Smallrig Cooling Fan Canon EOS R5 / R5 Mark II is approximately 1,100 SEK including VAT.

For the Canon EOS R5 Mark II, Canon solved the problem with its additional fan Canon CF-R20EP, which provides both a battery grip and an ethernet port. On the topic of cooling, we can also mention that in 2022 Canon filed a patent application describing how they could integrate a cooling device that works with liquid, something not entirely uncommon in other applications such as CPU coolers in computers - for more efficient cooling.
